When David presents, his goal is to change the course of history by equipping men with truth that will set them free. He does this through presenting compelling, relevant, real and powerful truths in an engaging, humorous and impacting fashion.

Using the power of story, he calls men to journey deeper into their hearts, where they truly find life. Whenever he speaks he presents a call-to-action, an opportunity for men to choose and facilitate change in their lives by the power of God.

Following Jesus is a Team Game
a presentation designed to help men walk together as a band of brothers.

Like baseball, basketball, hockey and football, following Jesus is ultimately a team game. By their very nature these sports are team activities. You can’t do them alone. Following Jesus is like that. If you are not part of the team - the church community - you really are not in the game. We each have a position to play. We contribute to the strength of the team. In team we find synergy - where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

Jesus prayed that we might be one - that we might be one unit. Unfortunately, the enemy has devised an incredible strategy to keep men living independently, alone and isolated. David will help you see why men tend to walk alone, and the fallacy it is to think that man can serve Jesus as a lone ranger. He will help you understand the two key lies sent from the enemy that keep men living life alone, and then help you to break free from the lies and begin following Jesus - as part of a team.

Full-Time Ministry is an Attitude
a presentation to help men understand the critical importance of their work and their role as marketplace ministers.

Many people figure that being a pastor is “first string,” and everybody else just goes to work to create the resources so the “first string” can get the job done. If you’ve played any team sports you know that there is first string, and then the rest of the team. First string has the talent, are the best players and are the ones who really win games.

It was with that attitude that David entered the marketplace. He felt like he was second string. He felt like he just didn’t cut the starting line-up because he wasn’t a pastor. It was during his days in sales with the Winnipeg Jets that the Lord spoke to David about the lie he had believed.

“Did I call you - or anyone - to serve me with part of your life, or do I call everyone to give me their whole life?”, He asked David. The answer was pretty obvious - “Lord, you call each of us to surrender totally to you and serve you with our whole life.”

“Well then, full-time ministry is not a position, it’s an attitude.”

David began to see the incredible lie that the church has believed in regard to full-time ministry - the so-called division between sacred and secular. Sharing from his personal experience in the marketplace as an entrepreneur, David will help you understand the vital role you play as a marketplace minister and how you are God’s Plan A for the Kingdom of God. There is no Plan B, or second string in the Kingdom.

The Lies That Bind
a presentation to help men to see the lies of the enemy that have held them captive and then teach them how to break the power of the lies.

While studying the rain forests of Costa Rica, David learned about the diabolical Strangler Fig tree and how it is a powerful illustration of the strategy of the enemy toward men. Seeds of the Strangler Fig land in the canopy of a healthy tree. The seeds begin to take root and send shoots all the way down to the ground, around the trunk of the healthy host tree. The shoots take root, drawing nutrients from the soil around the base of the tree, and begin to grow rapidly. The shoots grow and grow until they completely surround the host tree trunk. The tree ends up completely encompassed by the Strangler Fig, which chokes the life out of the tree until it dies. Hollow on the inside where the host tree used to thrive, the Strangler Fig is an empty representation of the host tree’s former glory.

Jesus told us that Satan is a liar - it’s his native tongue. If we do not recognize his lies and counter it with the truth, the lies will take root, grow, encompass us, choke out the life of God and leave us hollow inside.

David will share from his “Book of Lies” and help you understand the lies that the enemy has held you captive with, and then equip you with the five tools of truth to break free from the lies of the enemy on an ongoing basis.

The School of Brokenness and Submission
a presentation to help men understand their Father’s heart toward them and the purpose of the refining process.

Even though Jesus told us he came that we might have life and have it abundantly, he also told us that life is found by denying ourselves, picking up our cross and following him. If we lose our lives for his sake, we will find it. Any man who wants to truly follow Jesus will be enrolled in the “School of Brokenness and Submission.” It has been said that we should never follow a man who doesn’t limp. Limping leaders have spent time in the School of Brokenness and Submission. This is where character is refined, pride and willfulness is broken, hearts are softened and messages are deepened. If we do not recognize this process we can end up angry, resentful and offended with God. However, if we recognize and submit to this process we will walk in a deeper relationship with our Father and carry a greater glory - for the sake of His kingdom.

David will share his seven-year journey through the School of Brokenness and Submission, the lessons he learned along the way and will help you to understand the Lord’s hand in your life.

My Heart is Dead to You
a presentation to equip men to become freedom fighters for their wives and to learn how to love them.

These are not words we want to hear from our wives. However, all too often today, marriages are breaking up - and they don’t need to. It has been said, “…they will know we are Christians by our love.” The most loving and intimate relationship we experience in this life is between a husband and wife. If we don’t know how to love our wives - and if we don’t choose to love our wives - how can we truly love others? A man needs to understand his wife’s heart and learn what it means to lay his life down for her. Men need to be equipped to be freedom fighters for their wives. It is possible to redeem a marriage when all seems lost. It is possible to fight for your marriage in a way that brings joy, life and love back to your relationship.

Sharing from his personal experience of hearing the words, “My heart is dead to you,” David will help men to understand the heart of their wife and how they can become freedom fighters for their wives. There is hope.

Good to Go
a presentation to inspire parents to dare to dream and do their dreams.

For two years David and Anne took their sons out of school, home schooled them, and embarked on a global educational odyssey. They traveled to seven countries on three continents, on more than 24 trips to over 100 destinations, traveling over 110,000 km. This two-year period was intentionally planned to create lasting character and worldview change in their sons. During this time they helped their sons write and illustrate children’s books, with the proceeds from the sales of the books being donated to help orphans and endangered animals around the world. Their travels and the boys’ books received national media attention.

David shares the great adventure of this incredible season of their life as a family and presents an inspiring call to parents to create an intentional and exceptional educational experience for their children - of whatever scale is plausible for your individual family.

Raising Real Men
a presentation to equip men to father their sons.

Fathering sons - what a privilege. There seems to be a shortage of good men. It is better to raise them right the first time, than to try to fix them later. Our culture can be poisonous for children, and especially for sons. Masculinity is under attack today and boys are having a very tough time. Our culture - and oftentimes the church - is more interested in comfort and convenience than character, conviction and courage. What can we do as fathers to raise real men? Men of character. Men of conviction. Men of courage.

Sharing from personal experience with his sons, David will help you understand the vital role you play as a father in the life of your son, your objective as a father, how to create a definition of a man for your son, how to determine a process through which you can lead your son into manhood, and how to celebrate various stages in his journey from boyhood, through young-manhood, into manhood.
